Standard Operating Guidelines
 

MINIMUM TRAINING

1. PURPOSE.

To encourage firefighters to obtain as much training as possible and to ensure that they can operate in a safe and effective manner at emergency incidents.

2. SCOPE.

This procedure shall apply to all firefighters.

3. PROCEDURE

In compliance with NFPA 1500, all firefighters will successfully complete a minimum of 24 hours of formal, certificated training per year.

Should a firefighter not receive the minimum level of training during a year, he may no longer respond to emergencies and must turn in all departmental or county-owned equipment assigned to him.

The fire chief shall be authorized to make exceptions for long-term illness.
